The Heritage Soap Bar

The number is an age. Olive trees have been cultivated in the Levant for some 8,000 years, and from those groves came one of humanity's oldest crafts: olive oil soap, perfected over centuries in the workshops of Aleppo, Nablus, and Tripoli. Levant honours that lineage, pairing the region's founding ingredient with two botanicals long trusted for calming and comforting the skin: nettle and oat.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is the backbone of Levantine soap-making and one of the most studied plant oils in skincare science. It is rich in oleic acid, a fatty acid compatible with the skin's own lipids, alongside squalene, vitamin E, and polyphenols such as hydroxytyrosol and oleuropein, compounds recognised in the scientific literature for their antioxidant activity. Saponified olive oil produces a mild, low-stripping cleanse with a dense, creamy lather that helps skin retain its natural moisture. It is the reason traditional Levantine bars have been trusted on faces and bodies for centuries.

Nettle (Urtica dioica)

The nettle has been used in traditional medicine across Europe and the Near East for millennia, and modern research explains its endurance. Nettle leaf is rich in flavonoids such as quercetin and rutin, along with chlorophyll and minerals including silica, and its extracts have been studied for antioxidant, soothing, and purifying properties. In skincare, nettle is traditionally associated with clarifying oily or congested skin and calming irritation, making it a natural fit for a daily cleansing bar that needs to refresh without aggravating.

Oat

Oat is one of the few botanical ingredients with a formal place in dermatological practice: colloidal oatmeal is a recognised skin protectant, and its benefits are well documented in the scientific literature. Oats contain beta-glucans, which support hydration and the skin's moisture barrier; avenanthramides, compounds studied for their ability to soothe itching and visible redness; and natural saponins, which cleanse gently. Together these make oat one of the most reliable ingredients for dry, sensitive, or easily irritated skin, and they give Levant its soft, comforting character.

The Ritual

Levant is an everyday bar, made for face, hands, and body. Its balance of clarifying nettle and soothing oat suits it to daily use across skin types, including sensitive skin. Lather, cleanse, rinse; skin is left clean, calm, and comfortable.
